Financial Literacy Challenge!

Financial literacy is the ability to understand how money works in the world and the ability to make smart financial decisions. Financial literacy is one of those topics that traditionally has not been taught in school, but instead is disseminated at home. While this has worked for generations, the financial landscape today is more complicated than ever. Unfortunately, the level of financial education has not kept up with the level of financial complexity. At Moneco Advisors, improving financial literacy education is at the core of our mission. Every day we educate clients on, not only their investments, but also their cash flow, debt management, and buy vs. rent (or lease) comparisons. April was National Financial Literacy Month, and as such, we ask that everyone reading this take time to ask more questions about your finances. How are your funds invested? What are you paying for financial advice? What is your monthly spending on debt interest (mortgage, car loans, etc.)? Shredding Day!

We will be offering a free Shredding Day to kick off spring on May 17th from 10:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M., at our affiliates office at 1248 Post Rd, Fairfield, CT. In addition, we will be encouraging all taking advantage of this FREE event to also donate suits, shirts, and other professional clothing items for both men and women to be distributed to local veterans through the Bethel, CT based organization Save a Suit ( Save a Suits’ mission is to assist our veterans preparing to enter back into the workforce during the job interview process.If you have any questions, email

Not a day goes by that we don’t read about another security attack that targets both individuals and businesses that compromises personally identifiable information. These attacks can lead to fraud, bank accounts being drained, and countless hours spent trying to rectify the breach with credit card companies and other professional service organizations you conduct business with.  A main source of these types of breaches is not properly disposing of personal information.  This could include but is not limited to credit card statements, financial records, estate planning documents, as well other sensitive mail that contains personal information.

On April 24th, team members from both our combined firms, attended the Annual Financial Planning Association in Southington CT.  This all day event included breakout sessions that covered a range of advanced financial planning topics.  The Financial Planning Association® (FPA®) is the principal membership organization for CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals, educators, financial services providers and students who seek advancement in a growing, dynamic profession. The primary aim of FPA is to elevate the profession that transforms lives through the power of financial planning.

FPA supports high standards of professional competence, ethical conduct and clear, complete disclosure when serving clients. By providing opportunities for professional development, business support, advocacy and community at the national and chapter levels, FPA is truly indispensable in the advancement of today’s CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals.
