IRS Postpones U.S. Tax Deadline
The IRS announced last week that they will be postponing the traditional tax filing deadline from April 15 to May 17. This is partly do to the fact that the same agency has been tasked to facilitate the payments brought on by the recent passage of the 1.9 trillion dollar Covid Relief Bill. It is important to note, that this extension applies to filing your federal tax return and that you should still check with your accountant or specific state agency to confirm that they will also follow this guidance. Not all states follow the same guidelines for filing deadlines as the federal government.

Federal Reserve Keeps Rates Near Zero
Last week the Federal Reserve announced that it plans to keep interest rates near zero and signaled no anticipated future rate hikes through 2023. Despite the brighter than expected economic outlook, as the economy slowly continues to reopen, there is still some skepticism how the American public will react. In the same announcement, they also predicted GDP growth for 2021 to come in around 6.5% and that unemployment would continue to drop as folks get back to work.

10 Best Volunteer Activities in Retirement
With March being Retirement Planning month at MONECO, we have been including content to help you prepare and eventually live in retirement. Although retirement can bring on feelings of pure enjoyment and relief, many of our clients nearing it or already in it, sometimes worry about how they will actually spend their Golden Years. After all, one can only play so much golf, tennis or just time sitting around relaxing. Although some do find other means of employment in an industry that they always wanted to work in, to pass the time, others decide to pursue volunteer opportunities for causes that they are passionate about.
