MONECO Advisors is seeking an experienced Controller to lead their finance activities, reporting directly to the firm’s executive committee. This role is instrumental in managing the financial intricacies of their growing business and is expected to contribute to MONECO's continued expansion in the coming years.
A successful candidate will possess strong technical abilities in accounting and financial reporting, with expertise in expense analysis and budgeting. They will demonstrate business acumen by understanding and utilizing wealth management, business strategies, and operational processes to assist the executive management team. Effective communication, the ability to build a high-performing team, intellectual curiosity, and a fiduciary mindset are crucial attributes. Additionally, the candidate should have a results-driven "hands-on" mentality, attention to detail, project management skills, and be a true business partner to the executive committee, shaping the long-term strategy of the finance function.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all finance operations, including accounting functions, billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash management, and financial reporting.
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end book close processes.
- Establish and maintain controls to safeguard company assets and recommend improvements to internal financial policies and procedures.
- Prepare timely monthly financial statements and reports, including variance analyses versus budget and forecasts.
- Interface with management and other key stakeholders to present the monthly reporting package.
- Collaborate with the team on annual budgeting and financial planning & analysis.
- Manage cash and treasury, including regular reporting and projections.
- Lead the annual financial audit with external auditors and manage related information.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
- Assist external accountants in the preparation of tax returns.
- Drive continuous improvement in finance operations and implement new processes.
- Support M&A integration processes.
- Handle ad-hoc requests and special projects, such as system upgrades/implementation, workflow automation, account trend and vendor cost analysis, and more.
- Build systems, processes, and a team for future scalability and success, including mentoring existing finance team members, work allocation, training, performance evaluation, and fostering an effective team dynamic.
Qualifications:
- 8-10 years of experience in corporate accounting, with at least five years in a management role.Experience overseeing SEC and other regulatory exams, as well as working with broker dealer examiners
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field.
- CPA or a similar qualification is preferred; a public accounting background is a plus but not required.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, accounting policies, and compliance.
- Experience in Professional Services, Financial Services, or Wealth Management is preferred.
- Experience in interacting with outside investors is a plus.
- Proficiency in using the MS Office suite of products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
